Hailing from the Barossa Valley in South Australia, Michaela Jenke is a singer/songwriter who isn’t afraid to push the boundaries of music categorisation. Her style entwines country rock, alternative country and Americana, which has stemmed from influences by the likes of Hank Williams, Gillian Welch and Oasis.
At this years 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival, Michaela was named the winner of the Coca-Cola Battle of
The New Stars competition, which included a performance spot to play at the closing concert of the 2018 Tamworth
Country Music Festival.
Michaela is a graduate of the 2017 CMAA Senior Academy of Country Music and alongside her fellow graduates opened the official concert at the 2017 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
June 2017 saw Michaela release her highly anticipated debut EP, Diamonds Outta Dirt, which was recorded and produced by Bill Chambers at his studio on the NSW Central Coast. The five songs on the release are written by Michaela, one of those being a co-write with one of Australian country music’s most acclaimed songwriters, Allan Caswell.
She has performed with and supported some of Australia’s biggest names in country music including Amber Lawrence,
Bill Chambers, Aleyce Simmonds, Brad Butcher and Amber Joy Poulton.
Always performing alongside her is guitarist Reid Sampson, whose blistering handiwork is the perfect accompaniment to Michaela’s melodious vocals. The pair’s live performances have been described as captivating and the perfect blend on stage.
Michaela has been likened to the sounds of Rosanne Cash and Sara Evans. Her debut EP showcases her love for the sounds of bluegrass, swamp, rock and twang. Diamonds Outta Dirt is a dose of fresh country and proves Michaela is an artist to watch!
